Well, if you’re looking for something environmental to do in the City of Toronto today, be sure to note that from 8PM to 9PM the city will be participating in an initiative known as Earth Hour.  Created by a conglomerate of different groups, Earth Hour is an event that challenges everyone to turn off all of their lighting during that one hour of the day.

Torontonians will be celebrating Earth Hour by doing just that in homes and offices around the city and even if you don’t live in the City of Toronto you can participate by doing the same thing.  Earth Hour is a global event that many of the world’s best known cities will be participating in and many free concerts and other activities will be available in Toronto during that one hour of time.

More info is available at http://www.toronto.ca/teo/earth-hour.htm if you’re interested in doing more than just turning out the lights.

    Kim,

Yeah, that’s really weird! Usually Europe is far more gung ho about these types of events than Canada is. Were there any other large cities in Europe that didn’t participate?
