A few days ago, I wrote a post that talked about how Toronto subway stations have distinctive tiling and how that tiling had been captured by a set of buttons that were now on sale.  While that post was originally just going to be a stand alone post in and of itself, it actually planted a few seeds of thought in my head.  Seeds of thought are dangerous things for bloggers because they can lead to crazy ideas for posts and in this particular case that’s exactly what’s happened!

So, without further ado, I’d like to introduce Subway Sundays, …read more

The Toronto Blue Jays will be wrapping up their series with the Red Sox today and on this last game of the series, it appears as if Roy Halladay will be taking the mound for the Blue Jays.  Facing off against the Blue Jays’ ace will be the ace of the Boston Red Sox, Josh Beckett.  This pitcher’s duel is likely not going to be seen that often this year even with the number of games the two teams play against each other, so be sure to tune in or head to the field and buy your tickets …read more

The Toronto Blue Jays are set to host the Boston Red Sox in the second of three games that the two teams will play against each other at the Rogers Centre.  The probable starter for the Toronto Blue Jays in this game is Jesse Litsch, who is coming off a breakout first season and hoping to continue some of that momentum into this year.  Tickets range from $9 to $68 depending on where in the stadium you want to sit and can be purchased directly from the Blue Jays website which is listed on the blogroll to the …read more

Well, the good news is that Toronto is starting to get a lot warmer as of late as Spring begins to fight its way back into the city after one of the worst winters on record.
The bad news however is that while this is certainly a good thing, that nasty winter still has one surprise left in store.  With temperatures going into the double digits Celcius and lots of snow still around the city, flooding has now become a distinct possibility.  It’s also expected to rain a lot over the next week or …read more

Well, if you’re looking for something environmental to do in the City of Toronto today, be sure to note that from 8PM to 9PM the city will be participating in an initiative known as Earth Hour.  Created by a conglomerate of different groups, Earth Hour is an event that challenges everyone to turn off all of their lighting during that one hour of the day.
Torontonians will be celebrating Earth Hour by doing just that in homes and offices around the city and even if you don’t live in the City of Toronto you can participate …read more

University of Toronto Sit In

University of Toronto Sit In

It’s not that often that I talk about politics on The Toronto Traveler, since for the most part they really have nothing to do with tourism or being able to discover the city better.  However, this is a story that I feel I should comment on since it might be one of those stories that would give potential travelers cause for concern.
If you’re not aware of the story yet, you can follow this link to see what I’m talking about.  Basically, the University of Toronto will be raising residence fees by up to 20% next year and in order to …read more

Hey everyone,
Sorry for my recent absence.  I came down with a nasty flu very early into the New Year and basically have been spending most of my time in bed since my last post.  I’m feeling a lot better now however, so you should start seeing regularly scheduled posting commence again tomorrow at The Toronto Traveler.
Thanks everyone for your patience!
