Who Toronto is Good For

Who Toronto is Good For

The other day I was reading some newspaper articles regarding some of the news that had recently taken place within the city of Toronto and through unrelated tangents (just cuz my mind works like that), I came to the realization that Toronto really does have a lot to offer almost any group or demographic that wants to visit.  To give you an idea of exactly what I mean, here are some different groups of people and what I personally feel they could get out of a trip to Toronto.

Toronto by the Numbers

Toronto by the Numbers

Further to the Travel & Culture Channel’s “By the Numbers with b5media Travel & Culture Channel” post from a short while ago, I thought it might be cool to do something with a similar title just on my own.  My take on things is a bit different however, as here are some numerical figures to help you understand Toronto by the Numbers better!

Fact #1: Toronto has approximately 5,300 km of roads inside the city limits.

Fact #2: There are over 7,000 km of sidewalks inside Toronto’s city limits

Fact #3: In total, there are 530 bridges located within the …read more

Another Toronto Protest

Another Toronto Protest

While not exactly the protest capital of the world, Toronto does see its fair share of protests from time to time. With the Olympics fast approaching, the Free Tibet movement in Toronto has become far more vocal than they normally are and one result of that is a protest that took place on the 23rd of March in downtown Toronto. Here is some footage from that event. This is just one of many movements that protests in the streets of Toronto regularly. If I can find footage from some others, I’ll be sure to post them …read more

Finding What You Need from the Official City of Toronto Website

Finding What You Need from the Official City of Toronto Website

There are a number of different places that you can go to get really quick information about the City of Toronto.  The best place (aside from this blog of course!) has to be Toronto’s Official website.  As far as an official website is concerned, http://www.toronto.ca is perhaps one of the best sources of Toronto centric information that you could find.  The website was slow to get started and for the longest time was little more than a poorly designed and rarely updated piece of information, but with the new push for tourism in Toronto the local government has done an …read more

Toronto Tourism Tendencies: The University of Toronto

Toronto Tourism Tendencies: The University of Toronto

The picture shown above is of a courtyard in Hart House, one of the major buildings located on the campus of the University of Toronto (the university I currently attend).  While there might be a bit of bias in my including the University of Toronto in a list of major Toronto tourist attractions, I would just like to point out that whenever I go to another city, if there happens to be a major university located within that city I usually make it a point to visit the university.  The University of Toronto is most definitely a major international university …read more

The Elgin Theatre is the last operating double-decker theatre in the whole world community, something that makes it a must see for movie and theatre buffs that visit the city of Toronto.  However, the folks at Elgin know how to get down and spooky when the time comes and that is why this event ended up making the final list of great Halloween events for you to visit during …read more
