travel to Toronto, then you might be extremely glad or extremely frustrated depending on what you came to the city for. If you came here dreading the cold winters of Canada, then the fact that this has been the nicest winter on record is probably something you love. Of course, if you came here for the opposite reason, then you’re probably royally cheesed right about now. Well, the good news for the latter group of people is that if you’re staying for at least another week, you should get a chance to experience at least some reasonable weather before you leave.

On that semi-bright note, here is this morning’s round-up of stories of interest to the travelers of Toronto

1) The Ontario thaw causes fog that in turn causes flight cancellations

2) The same thaw breaks a city temperature record

3) In the wake of the thaw, a few pedestrian deaths have sparked a safety warning

4) The Toronto Megacity is 10 years old! Does anybody care?

5) Parking ticket scams and how to tell the real thing

Post from: The Toronto Traveler

The Toronto Traveler 2007 Posting Highlights

Miscellaneous

city-of-toronto

snow-toronto

the-toronto-traveler

toronto

toronto-history

toronto-hockey

toronto-information

toronto-maple-leafs

toronto-pictures

toronto-slang

toronto-snow-storm

toronto-sports

toronto-tourism

toronto-website

traveling-to-toronto

Photo Credit: Wikimedia Commons Even though The Toronto Traveler has only been around for about two and a half months or so, there are still highlights to talk about! Here are some of the more memorable posts that have come up in the short time that The Toronto Traveler has been online: - that is very fun to watch in the performing art of music.

Bernie German is one of the most delightful musicians around in my opinion, because he is very energetic in the way that he sings. Children from all over love his singing and this is true even to the extent that people that are in Toronto as families touring the city sometimes choose to carve out time to go and see one of his performances.

Well, he is performing on the 29th at the North York Central Library in what is being officially termed a family concert and sing-a-long session. The tickets for the event are completely free, so if you have children that love singing along to different songs, bring them to the North York Central Library at 10:30 am on December 29th to get their tickets for the concert that starts half an hour later at 11:00 AM.

<iframe height="350" scrolling="no" width="425" frameBorder="0" with your family, many of whom you may only see at that time. You get the chance to watch television and eat chocolate as much as your heart desires. And of course people that do celebrate the holiday get to have presents, sing Christmas Carols and everyone also gets the day off from work. All in all, Christmas is a very fun time and if you are going to be in Toronto this evening you can help the Metropolitan Community Church celebrate Christmas by attending their Christmas Eve Service at Roy Thomson Hall.

The service itself will be attended by people from all walks of life within Toronto’s diverse cultural community and people will gather to listen to the singing of Christmas Carols as well as a special performance by Louise Pitre. It’ll truly be a fun Christmas eve get together and if you enjoy that kind of Christmas spirit, then there are fewer places to get it better than with the Metropolitan Community Church at Roy Thomson Hall. Tickets start at $10.

<iframe height="350" scrolling="no" width="425" frameBorder="0" but just in case you’re new to the blog, here is a map showing you exactly where Roy Thomson Hall is. it is located on Simcoe Street, which you can reach by going west on King Street until you pass University Avenue. It is right next to St. Andrew Subway Station however, so if you don’t feel like navigating streets you can simply take the subway to that station and follow all the signs pointing to Roy Thomson Hall.

Post from: The Toronto Traveler

extra big bucks. Either way, there’s going to be plenty to do and see in the next two to three weeks, so if you want to wait and spend that money instead on two or three different events, that Toronto City Hall, a lot of people end up performing at that venue. It is located on Shuter Street just east of Yonge Street and the closest TTC station to it is Dundas Station, allowing you to walk southwards for about five minutes or so before you reach Shuter.

Post from: The Toronto Traveler
