A 24-metre-long barosaurus nicknamed Gordo leans out over a Toronto street as the centrepiece of the Royal Ontario Museum’s newly renovated dinosaur galleries.  Read the full story here.
For the first time in a very long time, Toronto did not place first in the country in terms of attractiveness of the city to workers.  Calgary has been picking up steam something fierce over the last little while and you can read about the most recent milestone they have achieved (placing first in the survey) and Toronto’s minor decline here.
Have you found it crowded on GO Transit recently?  Well, you’re not alone.

Ten Ways to Sound like a Torontonian

Ten Ways to Sound like a Torontonian

And now for something a little different. Some people might be a bit confused by the way that Torontonians speak. Granted, it is a lot closer to Americanized English than you are likely to hear from a lot of other English-speaking countries around the world, but there are still a few differences. Here are ten of them that I was able to think of off the top of my head:
- Torontonians frequently substitute the word Chesterfield in for the word couch
- Torontonians and most other Canadians use the proper term Inuit instead of the term Eskimo
- When …read more

Santa Claus Parade Revisited

Santa Claus Parade Revisited

Well, I found a clip of the Santa Claus Parade that I really liked, so hopefully this one works:

I tried it out in preview mode as Alex over at Sirened suggested and it seemed to work well enough, so I’m crossing my fingers and hoping that this one gets posted.

Toronto.com

Toronto.com

The second addition to the blogroll at The Toronto Traveler is toronto.com, a website that has been around for a very long time and has everything you are going to need when it comes to knowing what is going on in Hogtown.  To give you a brief introduction to the website, let us take a look at the major categories that they cover.
Events: Chances are if it is going on in the city, then toronto.com already knows about it and has posted it on their website.
Attractions: Just like the Toronto Tourism Tendencies series that we did before, toronto.com also has things …read more

Free Holiday Music to Soothe the Soul

Free Holiday Music to Soothe the Soul

Annual events around the holiday season are very encouraging to tourism, especially because it gives the tourism economy of a city something to plug each year.  Annual events around the holiday season that are free do this on an even larger scale and if you are a music lover and someone that is interested in developing music talent, then I think there is no event better for you to visit in the city of Toronto than the Annual Tuba Festival and Choir Sing-A-Long.  As a person that used to be a tuba player when I was in high school, I …read more

Christmas in Toronto and Around the World

Christmas in Toronto and Around the World

Well, just before I get to the event I want to talk about, I’d just like to apologize to all TTT readers for the videos that I posted over the last two days not working.  I figured I could just set and forget while I worked on my assignments and so I didn’t notice until just now when I logged in to look at them that none of them had posted properly.  I’m not really sure what’s up with that since I copied and pasted the embed code from YouTube, so if one of the other bloggers who have posted …read more

Video of Toronto

Video of Toronto

I’m a bit pressed for time at the moment due to some assignments I have due today and tomorrow, but I wanted to keep my posting schedule regular so I decided to cheat a bit and share a couple of videos with you today.  The first one is below and is just a simple overview of the City of Toronto, which I pulled off YouTube.  Let me know what you think!

Maple Leafs Set to Tangle with the Habs Tonight at the ACC

Maple Leafs Set to Tangle with the Habs Tonight at the ACC

The Toronto Maple Leafs, recently on a streak of futility having lost their last three games after an excellent 3-0 win against the Ottawa Senators, are going to be hosting the Montreal Canadiens this evening at the Air Canada Centre.  Toronto has played reasonably well this year against the Habs with a 2-0-1 record against their historical rivals.  This game could be the chance the Leafs have to halt this losing streak here and do what they can to pick up the pieces of their season and try to get themselves back to within striking distance of a playoff spot …read more

Toronto’s Official Christmas Tree for 2007

Toronto’s Official Christmas Tree for 2007

While it is not exactly the Official Christmas tree, this tree from past years within the Eaton’s Centre does a very good job of approximating what the tree looks like.  This year’s tree is sponsored by the Bay and stands a full 50 feet tall.  It was created by a Canadian named Brian Gluckstein, who you might remember as being a designer of some renown both here in Toronto and across the continent.  It was designed under a “sparkling” theme and as a result includes a lot of reflective colours in great quantities; gold, silver and white feature prominently within …read more

Ice Skating is back on at Nathan Phillips Square

Ice Skating is back on at Nathan Phillips Square

Now that snowfall is occuring here in Toronto and the weather is getting reasonably cold (although we haven’t had snow fall since the first snowfall earlier last week), the famous ice rink in Nathan Phillips Square in front of city hall is open for business once again.  This is an ice rink that I remember going to and skating on year after year when I was a kid and on any given day you’ll see Torontonians having a great time with friends and family as they skate around the partially natural, partially man-made ice rink that covers the square during …read more
